I would like to know as long as I stay within calorie goal 1200 can you have what ever you want to eat. I would also be exercising.

Yes. If you got your calorie goal from MFP make sure you eat back exercise calories.0

You have to eat MORE than 1299 calories, and eat back some that was burned off.0 -

MFP is simple, really.
Track calories. Stay under/around your goal = weight loss.
Exercise, eat back calories (maybe not all, since MFP usually over estimates burns).
Don't try to NET less than your goal, especially if you've set for an aggressive weight loss track.
Caloric deficit = weight loss.0 -

yes, just stay with in your calorie allotment. Weigh and measure everything, no guessing. You'd be surprised how off you can be. Also be aware that there are a lot of inaccuracies in the food data base so take the time to find the correct calorie counts.0

I drink coffee with creamer every day, yummmm (not to mention necessary to aviod my evil other side) and I lose. Everyone has opinions so you will get alot of different advice but I am a believer in the numbers. Make a deficit in calories and I lose. This includes my still eating gluten, carbs, fat, sugar, and especially chocolate (that will never leave my diet I don't care what anyone says).0

Track it all, MFP will do the math for you. Just do not drop below 1200 calories. This is bare minimum and that number is set as the minimum for a reason.

Regarding if you can still eat certain foods.... you can eat what you want and if there is a deficit you will lose weight.
With that being said (here comes the nutritionist in me... sorry guys), if you are choosing to lose weight for your health, you should be tracking your protein, carbs, fat, vitamins and minerals, making sure you get a variety of fruits and vegetables, cut out processed/packaged foods, and opt for more natural or even organic options. But I digress.0 -

I agree with most of this, knowing your whole diet is a great part of staying healthy. There is alot to it though so since it sounds like you are a beginner I would suggest you just start with calories and when you get comefortable with that you can start looking more at your macros and micros.
I disagree with cutting processed food and going organic but as mentioned before, there are lots of opinions floating around so you will have to decide what is important to you0 -
If you work out outdoors, I suggest using mapmyfitness. I find the calories burned are more accurate than mfp, and you can link them so your workouts are automatically entered for you.0

I'm all for convenience! And don't get me wrong, I love a treat now and then too. Just personally, choosing organic/local/natural and such has made significant improvements to my health. But my concerns are a little broader than weight loss too. It is totally a personal decision and you have to be happy with your choices. Different strokes for different folks, that's all0 -

Agreed!! I replied to a post about a woman who wants to go vegan with her family.... HUGE mistake. I am fairly neutral on the issue (I personally eat meat occasionally and Im all about eggs and dairy). There was some great advice/opinions from both sides but then people went crazy! It wasn't even fun to read anymore, just made me anxious lol0
