Can anyone tell me the effects of drinking diet soda while dieting?
I lost 312 lbs. drinking 2 or 3 diet pepsi's a day....... Is that what your asking?? :drinker:0 -
It wouldn't really effect your weight loss.
I lost 100 pounds basically drinking only diet soda (I wasn't very mature, nor health-conscious) when I was 15.
That being said, it's horrible for you.
Do you really want to be putting that many chemicals into your body?
I'm 18, and I quit soda 6 months ago. I had had migraines since I was 13, crippling migraines with Auras, and I hadn't had once since I quit. I drank half of my boyfriend's diet Pepsi on Sunday and I had a migraine the next morning.
I can't say enough bad things about it >< It can also get you used to constantly feeling full, because of the flavor and carbonation.
Edit - That seemed really negative. If it helps you stay within your calories, use it! Once you get the hang of things maybe try to ease it out of your diet. Don't over-do it.0 -
Everyone reacts differently to different foods than everyone else, so that's a hard question to answer.
I can tell you, from my personal experience, that I drank diet soda all through my weight loss. But last year I made a decision to give it up altogether. Totally a personal choice on my part, I wanted to eliminate processed foods to see if it helped with some issues I was having. And honestly, I felt so much better without it.
In the last year I've only had soda twice (once regular, once diet, both times 7up) because I had the stomach flu and it was the only thing I could keep down. I don't miss the soda so much as the act of having it. I enjoyed having it with my meals when we ate out, at social functions, and during the summer. I didn't miss the taste, the just act of having it.
So to answer your question, it may not have any affect on you and your weight loss. But if your body can't handle the chemicals/ingredients, then it may be issue. Only you will be able to answer that.
Good luck on your weight loss! :flowerforyou:0 -
I drink it to quell a sweets craving, or when I'm just tired of water.0

sorry! I made a mistake. I am new to MFP!0

The effects are a low calorie drink, some sodium macro bump with a side of fizzy awesomeness.0

I find it helps me, some find it hinders.
Coke zero in the daytime for the caffiene hit as well (to make up for lack of calories), then I've currently got a diet lemonade with black cherry flavouring beside me to quench my evening-thirst.0 -
I've cut soda completely and go straight for sparkling water (Not to be confused with seltzer water).
Sparkling water is zero calorie, zero carbs, and zero sugar and give you that fizzy feeling on your tongue you enjoy! I went straight water a few years ago and every once in a while I'd have pizza and I would be jealous that my other family members got to enjoy soda while I had bland water. That's when I discovered sparkling water. There are tons of flavors: strawberry kiwi, black cherry, lemonade, tropical punch, and many more. Way healthier than soda and cheaper, too. Where I live, 1 liter is only 78 cents!0 -
Coke zero is as-near-as-damnit 0 calories too. About 1.5 calories in a can - you'll probably breath in my calories than that in a day :P. Similar for other 'zero' branded drinks I believe.0
