Gaining Weight After Month of Diet

Hey all,
so it seems that after a month of dieting and eating healthful foods - I am STILL gaining weight! I've gained 3 pounds in the past month even though before I was trying to lose weight I stayed the same weight for a long time. According to my tracker I am getting all the right nutrients and have the correct amount of fat, carbs, protein, sugar, etc. I am constantly researching which foods are better for you and I think I have been eating very well. I haven't been exercising at all because I am, admittedly, lazy at times. But I am just wondering, is it possible that I am gaining weight just because I am not exercising? Shouldn't I at least be maintaining my current weight if I am eating the right foods?

You're probably eating more than you think. Do you weigh your food? Do you log your calories? Even if you eat healthy food, you can still eat too much. All exercising does is create a bigger deficit.0

Are you measuring your food on a food scale? It can be easy to mismeasure portions, thus without knowing it you can be eating more than you think.0

1) Opening your food diary would be helpful.
2) How are you measuring your portions. A food scale for solids and measuring cups and spoons for liquids is fairly important as estimating servings is usually quite wrong. Stuff that has a weight in the nutrition information for the serving size, even if they include a cup measure or some other measure, should be measured by the weight measurement not the other as the other one is an estimation of what would be equivalent to that weight. My experience is that estimation is usually incorrect, worse, it usually results in eating more than you are supposed to.0 -
I do always log my calories but sometimes I guess on the portion sizes. I will try weighing all my food... thanks guys!0

As others have said, you're likely just underestimating how much you're actually eating. Make sure you're logging everything accurately as well. There are some database entries that are waaaaay off.0

You really must weigh and measure everything. Seriously. You can't completely rely off of the databank on here as some of the entries are user submitted and aren't correct. Walmart has food scales really cheap, I would definitely get one. You'll be very shocked how different the portions are compared to just eyeing it.0
