Repeat injury...need motivation!!

They say third times a charm, right? Last night while playing basketball, I dislocated my left shoulder for the third time in five years. The last one happening April Fool's Day of 2012...go figure.
Long story short, my fitness levels have been an up and down battle. Just four years ago I was doing triathlons, was around 170....then I put on weight a year after, lost it again, put it back on....now since September I've been working very hard at losing it all again - for good.
September 3 I weighed in at 204 pounds. I purchase T25 and a gym membership, and today I'm 181. My target goal is 165, and I've been steadily getting towards that.
Now with my shoulder dislocation, I will definitely need to get surgery if I plan on being active still. I still want to play basketball. I don't want to be afraid to ski or snowboard. I want to swim, lift weights, do pull ups, push ups, etc. Surgery will be a must. I'm researching orthopedic surgeons to schedule an appointment, but before surgery even happens... I want to make sure I continue my weight loss goals. I'll be very limited in what types of activities I can do...so I'm seeking some recommendations. My weekly workouts would typically consist of swimming (at gym), running, T25, free weights, biking (at gym). I've changed my diet entirely which has also helped with the weight loss.
I'll be in a sling majority of the days until I see the ortho doc...but I still want and need to stay active. What types of things can anyone recommend? Is walking for an hour going to help? I don't really feel comfortable running yet. Biking I can likely do, but it may put strain on my shoulder depending on how I'm on the bike. I could do weights on the machines, but likely only legs.
Would love to see if anyone's gone through a situation like this, and what types of things they've done to keep striving towards their goals.
Thank you all!!

That suck's big time. I keep having shoulder injuries (not as bad as dislocation though) that keep me from doing what I want. When I am injury free I am pretty strong, but I keep tweaking my shoulder. Now I have decided to rest it even longer after symptoms go away, which I hate because I really want to go back into the gym.0

I've had repeated leg injuries, to include surgery. It's rough. I'm not sure what all you can do with your arm in a sling - I was fortunate enough to still be able to do most things, excluding running/jumping. Didn't keep me from putting on all the weight I'm trying to lose... but that's a different thing altogether >_>0
