Can someone please help me out with the TDEE calculations? I plugged my info into the IIFYM and selected the Basal Metabolic Rate under the Exercise Level and it said my BMR is1559 calories, and my TDEE is 1559 calories... then I chose "Every Day" and it said my BMR is 1559 and my TDEE is 2553... what does that mean? Shouldn't my BRM be the same as my daily? I am so confused! I used this website:

Thank you in advance for your help!! :flowerforyou:

Your TDEE calculates your BMR PLUS the estimated calories from exercise.
So it is saying your BMR is 1559, and IF you exercise every day at the intensity you say, you will burn 2553 every day.
People recommend you cut 20% off of your TDEE, which is 2553. (So theoretically you should eat 2042 to see a loss of about 1lb per week).
Try using the Scooby calculator, it seems a little more straight forward. http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/0 -

OK to clarify.... I entered desk job with little to no exercise to see what I should eat on a day I don't exercise... just to experiment, and it said my BMR is 1573, and my TDEE 1887.... so to lose a pound a week, I subtract 20% from my TDEE, which leaves 1509.6.. so on days I don't exercise, I must eat 1509.6 or less to lose, correct?
And then I selected 3x a week, and my TDEE is 2144 a day... Do I still subtract 20%, or is that already factored in?0 -
If you plan to exercise three days a week, use that setting. Always cut a % off of your TDEE, so with both numbers, yes cut the percent. The closer you are to your goal however, the less you want to take away.
MFP = Log your exercise, eat back calories. (Exercise not built into calorie amount)
TDEE = Take away 20% DO NOT eat back calories from exercise. (Exercise built into calorie amount)
I'm sorry its confusing. If you PM me your stats I can help you figure out the numbers. The goal is to be honest and active. If its a "no exercise" day, go for a 2 mile walk, its nice and relaxing and still keeps you active.0
