    Hi and welcome :)

How much weight are you aiming for* and do you have any plans on how you want to try and lose it?

    Good luck! :D

    * I put a weight loss goal in based on my expected Body Fat Percentage rather than BMI, cause I'm more interested in measurements than a weight, but weight is easier to aim for ;)

Welcome. Lots of amazing advice here - sometimes bluntly given - from people who have lots of experience/success. Some of it has a health warning so read, research and apply common sense. There is no magic solution - the best I can offer weigh and log every morsel that goes into your mouth (as far as possible anyway). This will teach you portion control. Try and hit the targets given as this will help you control your hunger - exercising will enable you to eat more food!

That's my goal for a year, pretty much :) Started about 17 and a half stone, aiming for 12st 7lbs or so

You may not be able to keep up a 2lb a week weight loss for an extended period of time *but*, as someone said to me, remember that any weight lost is still weight lost! Don't worry if it's not on target, it's still going. With exercise you may well be gaining muscle too, so the scale won't move but the inches will as you tone and such.

Get a tape measure out, take some measurements, and hop on the scales. You can get an approximate body fat percentage from this too, which is always a nice thing to monitor.

Best of luck :) I'm open to friend requests if you're ever in need of encouragement
