Getting serious

Hi there,

So it's my first time posting. Lurked on and off for awhile. This week I went out and bought a scale and weighed myself for the first time in ages. It was definitely the highest I've been. I was 180 pounds (I'm a 5'7" female). I knew I needed to make a change, and not just a fad diet or whatever, overall lifestyle change.

My husband is blessed with a fast metabolism and cannot gain weight, add that with our love of food and the fact that he is a chef, well it's no surprise I gained as much as I did over the last few years.

I went out and got an elliptical machine and I've been on it every day this week. It's hard, since I'm so out of shape, but I am slowly getting my time on there a bit longer every day. And I have started weight lifting.

We have done a complete overhaul of our diet. We use to eat every meal out! And any meal we made at home was so unhealthy. I have eliminated white flour from my diet, no more pop, added a ton of fruit and vegetables. I am a pretty heavy wine drinker, and I am going to limit my wine consumption to one day a week at most. It's been a hard adjustment, but I've stayed on track all week.

So doing it the healthy way, 1-2 pounds a week, I figure that by mid July I could be down to 145. I have actually lost a few pounds already this week! So I am technically out of the 180s…

I am actually really enjoying the healthy eating part. It's the exercise that I dread! I do feel great after though, and I'm hoping as I get in better shape, it will get easier..

Thanks for listening!
