P90X verses Insanity

So I'm currently working out at the gym.. with weights and cardio. And I'm starting with a personal trainer on Tuesday. But I'm interested in starting either the P90X or Insanity. I have to admit P90X is only a 30 min workout a day, so that part is appealing. Just curious if anyone has used or is using either of these workout programs. If so how do you like it?

I've done both and was able to stick with Insanity because, honestly, it was just more fun. With P90X I was watching the clock thinking crap I wish this would be over soon. Insanity was a more difficult workout but it went by quicker for me. Also you don't need any equipment with Insanity but you do with P90X. Good luck! They're both really good though.

awesome thank you! Yeah the no equipment thing is appealing to… is it as hard as everyone says it is?

I've done them both and like them both.
P90X workouts are around 1:15 minutes long with the longest 1:30. P90X3 is a very different routine than P90X, with workouts 30 minutes plus cooldown and a "cold start" warm up, which I recommend if you work out in the morning.

All 3 routines are great. I prefer p90X because I was able to see the results and I am absolutely in love with P90X3. Insanity was great for weight loss and building cardiovascular strength, but I didn't "see" the muscles in quite the same way. If you can borrow a few videos from a friend, give them all a shot and see which one(s) are going to be best for your fitness goals.

And yes, insanity is hard. But, it helped me shave about 5 minutes off my 5k time, which I consider huge.

awesome! the P90x3 are only 30 minute workouts right? I'm just wondering because I'm in school and wont have time to do 1:30 minute workouts… but 30 mins or the 45min ones that insanity says they are would work out great!

Insanity: Most of the first 3 weeks are 40-ish minutes. As you advance in the program some are longer or are two workouts that you can split up if you don't have time all at once.

P90X average about 50 minutes and they do have some that are an hour and a half - the yoga and stretching ones mainly.

Insanity and P90X are both difficult if you're giving YOUR 100%. Either one would be a good choice honestly.

You're right the new P90X3 is 30 minutes. The first version of P90X had longer workouts, but Tony shortened the workouts for those who didn't have the time to workout for an hour.
I like the P90X/P90X3 workouts. Insanity is too hard on my knees.
