Monitors..not sure what I need..HELP

I am needing something to track my calories burned while working out. I take many classes and need something that can track my calories burned while doing those classes or while working out on strength training machines in the gym. I walk on the treadmill for most of my cardio so it tells me how many calories I have burned during my walk. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Try a heart rate monitor, like the ones made by polar! I have the polar ft7 and I absolutely love it! It's very accurate and I use it to track everything I do whether at the gym (classes, lifting, treadmill) or at home (running outside, home workouts). It gives you calorie burn and more depending on which model you buy. Very cool to have :)

Got a Fitbit Flex for Christmas- it's ok as a pedometer, but if what you do does not involve walking or running it's very inaccurate. I lift heavy weights 3x a wk, and it barely records that. If I go out and take a long, brisk walk it's really excited! In Pilates it's actually recorded me as "sleeping" a couple times. Soooo, probably not a Fitbit if you don't do lots of walking or running.

Fitbits are great for tracking step based activity. HRMs track steady state cardio like running or cycling. Neither is accurate for tracking HIIT or lifting. Look at your exercises and base your monitor purchase on what best fits your activities.
