Post achilles rupture....HAVE to lose this weight!

Hi all,
Last July I ruptured my achilles tendon playing netball. I was treated conservatively and not offered surgery. Here we are, 8 months later...and 1.5 stone heavier...and the ankle is still not right! (I still limp and cannot do a single heel raise on my left leg)
I am so miserable as I am limited to the exercise I can do. I am awaiting results from an MRI scan when the docs will tell me whether the achilles is still not mended or whether it is ligament damage - so I am very nervous of any exercise that will make it worse.
I know losing this extra weight will help and even if i need surgery, less weight can only be a benefit, right?!
Anyway, any one in the same boat (post injury etc) or anyone that wants a 'friend' for mutual support, give me a shout!
Good luck everyone.

Do you have access to a gym or pool? What exercises are you currently performing?
The big thing is to adjust your caloric intake to your new activity level to mitigate the recent pattern of weight gain.0 -
Hello fellow achilles rupturer'
I'm 5 week post op. Dont dispair! I feel your pain.
Mine is a re-rupture. I had been right through the 3.5months recovery over christmas (cast and moon boot) had not even started physio yet and re-ruptured mine simply walking to the bathroom.
I only got to taste what 2 shoes was like for 1.5weeks! I did not make the most of showering standing up
I have 30kgs (66lbs) to lose!
5 months of sitting on my *kitten* being depressed didn't help but the last 7 days I've made massive changes!
The reason I write is to tell you I started doing youtube chair cardio exercises (approx 30mins burns 230cals) and I try to maintain 1200 calories a day and have already lost 1kg (2.2lbs)!
I also bought a polar ft4 so I can measure my calories and try to motivate myself to get my heart rate up.
