Connect your accounts

Enable negative calorie adjustments

Then follow your MFP calorie goal.
Do not log step-based activity. Log non-step workouts in Fitbit or in MFP.
MFP has a Fitbit Users group:

I would use both as a tool and sync them. Since fitbit records your actual activity for the day - I would go with that. Set up your food goals for whatever amount you want to lose on fitbit. There's a fitbit group on here that explains how to set everything up really good.0

I sync my fitbit to MFP and use the adjusted calorie number MFP gives me with the fitbit data and I log everything on MFP. The 2 work very well together.0
