loving looks I get, but nothing changed in my mind

I've lost nearly 30lbs since New Year and I feel so empowered by that - I feel healthier and stronger. But nothing has changed in my mind and life. Only my physical has changed. Don't get me wrong, I love the new looks I'm getting from girls that wouldn't have never looked at me twice before, but I'm still the same man I was fat or slim.
Does anyone else find it depressing that we need to conform to an arbitrary media idea of beauty before we start to get sexy looks? Or is this just natural evolution truth that we look for healthy/sexy people to reproduce with, to create healthy children, and those who are unhealthy obese just don't make good 'mating partners' on an animal level, so we are naturally not attracted to them?
I'm still the same 'me' fat or slim.
