TBL contestants aim to burn up to 8000 calories per day and eat 1200-1400 I think, from things I've heard on the show. Where do they get the energy to get out of bed?

I had a 14,000 weekly deficit this week...did I lose the 4 lbs the math predicted? No...I lost nothing...a deficit does not always mean weight loss. I've been losing 2.5 lbs a week over the last couple months...last 2 weeks NOTHING...We are biological organisms...not calculators.

considering you normally don't do that much exercise...you did shock your body...

parts of this article apply I believe

ie extreme exercise and stress raise cortisol levels and mask weight loss with water retention.

How do you know you had a 14,000 deficit?

We don't have the technology for anything but a 'best guess' and that's with you hooked up to a machine a lot of the time.
If you're not, it's not even a "best guess", just a "reasonable guess", maybe.

As above, there's lots of reasons the scales may not chance when you expect them to.
