3rd Party Cables not working with iPhone anymore

This really Stinks!

I personally purchased two cables from a daily deal site, they were about $10 each after shipping, worked great to charge my phone
and sync pictures to my Mac mini.

Now suddenly they won't work because my phone refused to let me use a cable that isn't authorized by Apple.

Anyone else had this problem?

Also the "work-around" in the article isn't working for me.
