Help!
I've gotten to a weight that has plagued me for years. I've been at this point before but never stayed more than a few weeks. I'm at a nearly healthy weight for my body which is why I think it's harder to push past. What do I have to do to blow through this weight and get even a few pounds more. My goal is 12 pounds away. I can see the light!
I usually do a circuit of cardio bike 10 mins, 3.8 walking 10 mins, bike 15 mins, elliptical 10 mins and weights between 4 days per week. I have a short attention span so I like to keep moving from each machine. I also try to vary speeds and intensity levels. I'm eating a lot better but could try less in the evening. Any other big break the plateau moves?

These are unconventional, but both have worked for me.

Cheat. Go and have a "before you knew how to eat" sort of meal. For me, this is usually a cheeseburger and fries, or some other deadly thing. This will shock your body, and make the dieting "brand new" to it again.

Take a few days off from exercising. About every three months, I take a week off. (this is very hard for me now) Then, the exercise shocks your body again. Also, you will be amazed at the renewed workout energy you have.

Less odd ways are increasing your exercise intensity or time. . .upping the resistance on the elliptical, adding incline to the treadmill, increasing the weight you're lifting, etc.

  • Hello there,

First of all, congrats. on the weight lose, I too have lost weight...as of today 30 pounds so far. I am 20 pounds away from my goals. I experienced a plateau a few weeks ago and I called a health club and nitrution store and the guy there was really nice and he too was on a diet. He explained that the closer you get to your goal the body starts to slow the weight lose process a little...But do not worry, his advice was to keep doing what you are doing and the weight will after about two weeks of the plateau the scale will show the weight lose in pounds.

I eat 5 small meals a day...cereal, snack, lunch, snack then dinner around 7pm. and no food after 7pm. I am losing about 2 1/2 pounds a week. I hope this helps a little ...smile....see you around the site.
