Are prenatal vitamins good enough?

Hello! My husband and I are wanting to start having a baby after I lose some weight. My OB wants me on a prenatal at least a month before we try to conceive. I had a miscarriage last year. I was wondering if I could take a prenatal now instead of a regular multi-vitamin.

Sure, why not? I took one in the month leading up to when we were going to start TTC and then was on them for a few months before we got pregnant. The prenatals have increased vitamin levels for what the baby needs, but some might be lower or missing some other nutrient - iron comes to mind if you choose an iron-free version - so I would just check the label against the label of your usual multivitamin to make sure you're getting everything you need. I think I also took calcium supplements as well.0
