Calories in roasted chickpeas

I love roasting canned chickpeas in the oven until crunchy for a great salad topper. I've been working calories out based on the initial soaked weight but I'm wondering if roasting alters the calorie/nutrient content at all?

200g drained chickpeas makes around 65g roasted. I assume the only thing they lose is water - which wouldn't change the calorie count.

If 200g drained = 240kcal then 65g roasted also equals 240kcal, right?

So a 20g serving would equal 74 calories. BUT I've read various online recipes that show 20g at anywhere between 20kcal and 149kcal!

It makes it more confusing that so many "diet" sites call them a low-calorie food, when 70kcal for 20g doesn't seem very low cal in my opinion.

    Hi

I use dry chickpeas and I use the calorie count based on grams.

My suggestion is to use the calorie from the label by weight. If you are not adding anything while the chcikpeas are roasting, I agree there is no more calories to add.

Do not make it more complicated than necessary. Recipes are not always accurate. Labels are supposed to be more accurate.

Good luck in your healthy journey
