Hi
Thanks for taking the time to read this:
I was wondering would I lose weight if I stuck to a 1400 calorie intake with doing couple days yoga couple of Pilates and couple days cardio,
I was in a pretty bad car accident so have no or little power in the left side so the yoga helps my back by stretching and the
Pilates is building the core but the cardio I do 20-30 mins cross trainer 15-20 mins walking on treadmill at 5.5mph and 10 mins on the bike to increase the heart rate and hopefully burn.

Will this work or am I dreaming??
Any advise appreciated

You lose weight by eating at a deficit. Period. Exercise enables you to eat more, and it helps maintain your lean body mass. Log everything you eat accurately & honestly.

    Hi

I log 100% truth, exercise and food intake tha ks for the link will have a read :)
  • Remember that guy's utube recently about surprising his parents with the big weight loss ??? he said he lost most of it just by eating less....no exercise till the end...so eat less then you burn, whether exercising or sitting and watching TV...of course for your hearts sake it's probably best to exercise some....

The only way to find out if your plan will work is trial & error. Follow it for two weeks, then reevaluate. If you're still not losing, try eating back half your calories.

Actually your TDEE according to http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ (based on really general stuff you just put in this post) is approximately 2280.

Is that not a lot of calories ? I eat 1400 and that's normally a struggle lol

Your height and weight are almost identical to mine (within a few lbs) and I eat 1500 with no exercise. On days I exercise I eat back as many of the calories burned as possible. E.g. I burn an average of 600cals doing zumba, so on those days I try to snack in the afternoon to up my calories and give me energy to exercise, then have a higher calorie tea.

When I follow this correctly (I fell off the wagon a few months ago), I lose between 0.5lb and 1lb a week.

So I think as long as you aren't depriving yourself and are eating back your exercise calories, you will be fine and will lose weight at a steady rate.

You may be confusing TDEE and BMR. If your TDEE is around 2200, you want to eat at a deficit to that number, staying above your BMR number. To lose a pound a week, subtract 500 calories from TDEE (2200). That leaves you eating 1700 calories a day to lose one pound a week. Try that for 2 - 3 weeks and see how you do.

^^^This. Eat 1,700 calories for at least 2 weeks, then reevaluate.

Your goal should be to find the maximum number of calories at which you lose weight, not the minimum.

Edited to add that TDEE includes exercise, so don't eat back any exercise calories. That would be double dipping.

Any plan which involves a calorie deficit will work. Your plan will not work if you overeat. This is the key.
