How to control binges when I get home?

I get up pretty early, around 5:30, and eat breakfast. Then when I get back home after work/classes at around 3:00 I usually eat a pretty big meal which is more like a bunch of moderately healthy snacks (peanut butter, nature valley bars, lots of popcorn, fruit, sometimes cereal or oatmeal) which spans from the time I get home to six or six thirty or so. I guess it's the stress, but it really slows me down eating so much and then I'm usually too full for a decent dinner. I want to get it to where I maybe have one big snack but am eating three substantial meals a day. Any tips? And also how can I stay energized for exercising? I usually exercise around seven or eight.

Eat "healthy" (whatever that means to you) 80% of the time. Fit yummy, portion-controlled treats into your calorie goal. Deprivation can lead to bingeing.

I find I'm less hungry when I use MFP's protein & fiber goals as minimums and ignore fat & carbs. It will take trial & error to find what works for you.

I eat lots of high fiber foods during the day; mostly fruit and veggies and a minimum of grain and some lean protein. Then I have a light dinner and a few higher calorie snack foods in the evening (stuff like wine or chocolate). This way, I've already gotten the bulk of my nutrition by 6 pm and I know how many non- filling treats I can fit in.

Try buying a veggie tray and some low cal dip, or get some things to make a big low cal salad. Also, keep around easy lean protein like hard boiled eggs, hummus, non fat yogurt for smoothies, and tuna.

Lots of protein and fiber! try staying away from simple carbs and only eat complex carbs such as veggies and fruit (they keep you full and take longer to metabolize than say chips or pretzels). Also try eating 5 meals a day. Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner. You need to eat in order to keep your metabolism up and working. If your not meeting your MFP calorie goals and eating less than what your body needs to function then your body goes into fat storing mode and you no longer burn calories. Thats why most people don't lose weight when they start dieting. One of my favorite snack foods are "pure protein bars" you can buy em at costco and most grocery stores, they have 20 grams of protein and 200 calories. Nuts are also a great snack, they are high in fiber and healthy fats which your body needs.
