The struggle... meal by meal

So let me first start off and say I have been overweight my entire life. It wasn't till college that I had the freedom to learn how to cook and eat health when I realized the error in my ways. Even with this new found knowledge I struggle..... a lot. I struggle with food choices, portion control, when to eat, etc.

I find my biggest fault is that while I want to think of my weight loss as longer term, having that mentality messed me up. I have come to the conclusion that weight loss is hard but anything that is worth having is worth working at. I can't think long term, I can't think yearly, monthly or even weekly. To lose weight I have to take it meal by meal.

Ask myself...
Am I hungry or bored?
Am I thirsty?
What options do I have if I'm hungry?
Can I make that option healthier?

They're the questions I ask myself before every meal and I find that it really does help me stay more accountable. Weight loss is just as much mental as physically. You have to train your mind to want to be healthier...

This is just my 2 cents... I hope it can help others

Have a blessed day : )

    Good grief...
  • I absolutely agree. I take it day by day. And I've learned not to take the scale too seriously. If I'm up a pound I don't let it make me frustrated. I just go on to the next meal and finish out the day being as healthy as I can be. I've learned to let myself have what I want, hopefully not as much or as often, but if I deny myself everything I will get frustrated and fall off the route I've chosen for myself. Self-talk is very powerful too.
