Last 10 - raised calories - More strength??

Hey everyone,

So after some great advice i have moved my goal from 1 pound a week down to .5 a week. I have about 10 pounds to go to be "normal" LMAO Or at least at a healthy weight. I am at this point still not even close to being happy with my appearance. My stomach and thighs are being stubborn!!
The number on the scale is important to me however I think the mirror / way clothes fit me are more important!! I only see the scale once a week for 2 seconds..I see the mirror several times a day lol

Anyways - I am 160 lbs - 38 yrs old and about 5'5. I have been eating (not netting) 1550 cals per day for several months with great success however recently have been hungry A LOT hence the raise in calories. I am now set to about 1700 per MFP. While MFP says to net this - I will prob eat this not net. Maybe in a few weeks net it however that would be too big of a calorie jump.
I use Turbo Jam 5 days per week. 3 days cardio 40 to 50 minutes per session and 2 days strength for 40 minutes each session. I have been thinking of switching to 3 days strength and 2 cardio but am not sure this would be effective. Mind you I only have about an hour each day to work out! DVD's have been my life line for this journey! I started with Zumba & hip hops abs till they bored me and they (with proper deficit) helped me lose the majority of my weight. I just started Turbo in January and for the first time ever...I am happy with my arms!!! (not 100 satisfied however..I can see muscle for the first time in my life!!!) With just the two days per week I have seen great results in some areas
.
To help lose the last 10 pounds AND tone the stomach & thighs - do you think more strength training would help speed up the process?

    Hi

Congratulations on your achievement so far.

Short answer to your question: yes.

Weight lifting will help you. 30 minutes , 3 times a week is all you need. You need to rest the particular muscle you worked out the next day.

There are several weightlifting groups at MFP. Please try them.

I have a personal trainer session at the gym once a week. It keeps me right on my technique and I learn new workouts.

Good luck in your healthy journey

Thank you - I am just torn as I do not want to add more strength if cardio is in fact better at this time. I certainly do not have time to hit a gym. I run an in home daycare which runs late so i work out at nap time. Once work is done..then it is family life with my own two or three if you include my husband lol I will not decrease strength that is for sure!
