Working out and Muscle Soreness

When I first began working out, I would be sore pretty much every day. I'm about 6 weeks into working out regularly now. I have increased weights and speed (for cardio) but I no longer feel all that sore.
So the question then is do you need to be sore in order to build muscle? I'm not talking about fat loss necessarily. Obviously when I don't feel sore, I think I haven't pushed myself hard enough.

Pretty sure you don't HAVE to be sore to be progressing. Your body has adapted to your routine now! When I started running I was sore EVERY DAY all day. Now I don't get sore from running at all but I can still run further and my pace is still faster.
I just started lifting last week and holy Mother of God I am still sore today. Going lifting tonight anyways, and hoping it wears off eventually like it did when I ran.0 -
No - absolutely not. The soreness was primarily because your body had to "learn" the movements. The more you do it (especially if you do it often enough), the less soreness you have.0
