what is the right amount of cals?

Hi Guys, any replies are much appriecated!

I am 5ft 6in and weighed 8st 5lbs up until september just gone, in which I am now 8st 11lbs. In the last 2 years I have lost around nearly 2st by going to the gym 5 times a week, roughly burning 500 cals a time and eating around 1000cals per day. This worked for me up until recent months due to going on holoiday and christmas.

I have put on half a stone in the last 6 months and am struggling to shift it. I work in a job which consists of steady walking for 3-4 hours a day, I go to the gym 3-4 times a week burning 350-500 per session and I eat aroundd 1100 cal a day and seriously seem to be struggling with shifting this half a stone I put on. Is there any advice you can offer?

Many thanks
Charlotte

Unfortunately I am 90% sure this is happening because you were severely under-eating. 1000 calories isn't enough without exercise and is dangerous with it. This happens to me, I have an eating disorder and in the past when I lose a lot of weight by not eating enough it will work for a while, I'll get very thin and then something will happen.

Maybe I will slip up once, eat too much for a week, such as one would on a holiday, and then my body refuses to lose the weight and seems to gain on anything. I've gone from 100lbs to 125lbs in a few months and no matter how little I eat or how much I exercise I wont lose an inch. Only after, and yes it sucks, 6 months to a year will my metabolism regulate out and then I can lose weight again.

Your body thinks you were starving. I'd say eat very healthy, if you are a teenager definitely don't go under 2000cals- 1800 at the bare minimum. If you find this hard or mentally distressing I would advise you see someone. Of course this is the information I have gathered from experience and internet-learning, I am not a doctor and things may be different for you.

EDIT: Also wanted to add that my friend currently eats around 500 calories, is 5'9 and GAINS on 700 calories. She was severely anorexic and that is what happened to her metabolism. If you want your metabolism to get better you have to eat more, or else you could end up like her.
