Needed to break Plateau

About 4 years ago my Dr. at the time encouraged me to try MFP. Well I added the app to my phone but never used it. About a year later I became serious about cycling for fitness, recreation and as my social activity. I lost over 50 pounds just by cycling and making better diet choices. The last two years I have plateaued. February 2 after joining a weight loss competition on a non fitness forum I decided to actually make a serious effort to lose weight. Not just lose it but keep it off. I knew about the only way I was going to do that was to somehow track calories. MFP was the first tracker that came to mind and was highly recommended by members of another (fitness) forum I belong to. My day job is sitting at a desk 8+ hours a day. Cycling is important to me. I ride year round, have bicycle commuted in the past and hope to start that up again soon. I ride in several organized event rides a year including Seattle to Portland a 200 mile ride that I do in one day, most riders do it in 2 days. Even though I rode 5000 miles last year my weight stayed within 10 pounds high to low all year. I'm still about 40 pounds overweight from where I'd like to be which would still be more than 40 pounds heavier than when I graduated high school, and an elite distance runner.
I'm a type 2 diabetic and my lifestyle changes since diagnosis have helped me control the disease. When I lose even more weight that will be a big help as well.
