Working Out With An Injured Back/Hip

Hey guys,
So Oct of 2013 I was involved in a major collision where I was hit driver's side. Unfortunately because of that, I have a back and hip injury which has not healed completely yet.
In regards to exercise, I do like to do more "rigorous" activities: running, weight lifting, zumba, martial arts, rugby, etc but not sure if I'll be able to do those now.
To be perfectly honest, I haven't attempted working out again since then (and diet hasn't been clean either), but I finally motivated myself enough to get back into it.

Have any of you guys had/currently have any back or hip injuries while trying to lose weight or stay in shape?
If so what work outs do you recommend and what advice do you have?
