3 Month stalled weight! Help!

I know, I know, Every one has this happen....but three months!? I am going insane with annoyance every time I step on the scale! I have bounced around the same 5 pounds for 3 months and IT HAS TO END NOW! I have lost roughly 50 lbs in a year and I am stalled right before I jump to onederland and I want to get there so bad. I am desperate enough that my girlfriend is swearing by this shake for meal replacement call insignix or something or another like that and I am so temped, I just know that it is not the right way to go. I need tips and ideas on how to jump through this platue. I have tried almost everything out there but go ahead, what has worked for you?

ps. I am always looking for friends if you need an extra daily logger. I don't log everything, mostly because I have 3 kids and a fireman for a husband, but what I did worked for 50 lbs, why isn't it working now?

If you're not losing, you're not eating at a deficit. You're underestimating your food &/or overestimating your burns. Weigh your food. Eat back half your calories.

Well, you really are going to have to weigh/measure and log everything for a couple of weeks so folks can see what you are doing in order to truly advise. Even the doc wants me to log my BP every day for a couple of weeks before he'll comment on any changes.

And IMO, you're probably doing the right thing by not going the meal replacement route. (I know I just drew a line in the sand with some of the folks here, but I'm a firm believer that most of the shakes out there are absolute crap for you.)

HIyah from what I have seen with myself, when you have quite a bit to lose you can make only little changes to intake and the weight most times will just drop off. As you get closer and closer to goal weight you find that you need to be more careful with your calorie intake as you can end up eating at maintenance and nothing comes off. Unless you are 100% sure of your intake I think it is best to log and see where you can make changes. If you plan your meals you can enter them first thing in the morning or last thing at night. It really does not take that long. Good luck.

Congratulations on losing 50 lbs in a year - that's awesome.

    "I don't log everything,"

Here's your problem..... if you don't log/track your food, then how do you know what you're eating? How can we offer advice if we can't see the data?

I suggest that you stop making excuses for why you can't log and just do it. It sounds harsh, but it's the truth. You had the time to write a post - you could have used that time to log food.

What about exercise? Take a step back and go back to the basics. Log every bite and every step you take. I think you will see where you are making errors and can make small changes to start heading in the right direction.

Truth time: you answered your own question right there with your PS. I noticed after about 45-50 lbs lost (I'm technically at 56 now) that I had just a mild three week stall. I used the data in MFP to help me...looked back at a month where I lost 9-10 lbs and figured out what my average calorie consumption was for that month. I also took a look at how many days of the month I had logged a work out. When I compared it to the 30-day time frame where I barely lost 1 lb, I found that over time I had let my daily average consumption jump up almost 200 more cals per day. It wasn't noticeable to me until I did all the math (because I was still "in the green"). Also, to be honest, I was probably snacking on some stuff late night that I had stopped logging because "it worked for this long." You see where I'm going with this. :)

Your body is adjusting. Also, you are smaller now. I didn't look at your profile or see if you have an open diary or how many cals you consume a day, but if you really want to get over this stall, you need to get honest with yourself. Log EVERYTHING. Weigh and measure everything. Look at your past trends to see when you were doing well. Perhaps think about readjusting your goals/cals, but ONLY AFTER YOU LOG CONSISTENTLY. Good luck. I bet if you take a hard look at what you've been doing and adjust, reign it in and get stricter with yourself, you'll get over this hump easier than you think. I was shocked at how easy it was for me once I admitted what the issue probably was (hint: myself!).
