Looking for others "like me" (boring details inside...)

Hi all! I love the support and motivation that I gain from these boards, but I feel like I am possibly a small demographic! I was wondering where people in my life situation are hiding!

Details:
1) I am a mother of 2 in my early 40s
2) I am in this to get to a healthy, reasonable weight. I have no aspirations to be at the low end of the weight charts! I just want to have more energy to keep up with my kids!
3) I doubt I will ever be a gym rat or exercise-aholic - life is just too crazy and it is not the least bit appealing to me. I would rather spend a rare free hour or two snuggling on the couch with my family than work out.
4) I am very active in my kids' lives - I am an assistant soccer coach, a PTA executive board member and very active in our school
5) I work full time and I am WIPED OUT when I get home. I am not a night person anymore. I put the kids to bed and follow soon after!! I rise early (5:15) and exercise then.
6) I am happily married. My husband loves me exactly as I am today and wouldn't care if I changed at all. Of course he wants me to be more healthy for my own sake!
7) I think that eating "cleanly" is too overwhelming for me. I am fine with throwing a Lean Cuisine in the microwave or eating "junk food" on a limited basis. On the flip side, I look to cook and I try and keep things healthier than the recipe at times. I may change my mind as I get healthier, but for now, I am good to eat whatever I can get on our food budget!!
8) I am keeping my program really simple - eating less and exercising. At some point I may want to get more interested in the "science" of everything - but that's not important right now.

I'd love to connect with people that are more relaxed about MFP and being healthy in general. I think it is awesome when people are truly passionate about their exercise and every morsel of food they eat, but I just can't see that being big for me. There are too many other balls in the air for me!

Where is everyone like me? :flowerforyou:

ETA: Feel free to add me as a friend! I'd love to have some more support!!

Hi there I'm not nearly as active as you but I'm might be a close match:

    1) I am a mother of 1 in my early 40s
    2) I am in this to get to a healthy, reasonable weight. I have no aspirations to be at the low end of the weight charts! I just want to have more energy to keep up with my kids!
    3) I doubt I will ever be a gym rat or exercise-aholic - I would rather spend a rare free hour or two snuggling on the couch with my family than work out.
    5) I work full time and I am WIPED OUT when I get home. I am not a night person anymore. I put the kids to bed and follow soon after!! I rise early (5:15)
    6) I My boyfriend loves me exactly as I am today and wouldn't care if I changed at all. Of course he wants me to be more healthy for my own sake!
    7) I look to cook and I try and keep things healthier than the recipe at times., I am good to eat whatever I can get on our food budget!!
    8) I haven't started the exercising but with the warm weather coming I hope to start walking more.

I need more support to keep me challenged to make the goals I have set for myself.

    Here I am - I'm a mom of 5 and 43 years old.
    1. I work full time
    2. scout leader for my son.
    3. I'm not a night person as much - at least not active at night - I'm usually trying to wind down at that point and exercising late at night isn't for me and I agree, I'd rather be cuddling with the kids.
    4. I have tried the gym and just don't follow through. I try to go for walks at lunch or so a little something before work - but I was NEVER EVER a morning person - just that extra 1/2 hour in the morning it hard for me.
    5. My husband says he wants me to be healthy but doesn't give me a hard time about the size I am or the size I was. He did/does encourage me - and stuff and we do stuff as a family to 'get moving' - go rollerskating etc.
    6. I try to cook (and he does too) to keep things healthier and I adapt recipes as well - every little bit helps, but I too am not above tossing a Lean Cuisine in the microwave for lunch or even grabbing a burger at the drive thru. I live in the REAL WORLD and with a busy life and kids, sometimes that means fast-food.
    7. I have a goal - to lose about another 20-25# and I use MFP to help me stay on track and know what I am doing - I also use it for the support. Sometimes that is just the extra little kick I need.

Best of luck to you too! You can do it!
  • Thanks for the replies, ladies!! It's nice to know I'm not alone. :)

    Details:
    1) I am a mother of 2 in my mid 40s and a grandmother of 2. Got started early
    2) I am in this to get to a healthy, reasonable weight. I just want to have more energy to keep up with my grand kids!
    3) I don't have time to be a gym rat or exercise-aholic - life is just too crazy. I do like to stay in shape but 30 minutes a day max. I would rather spend a rare free hour or two snuggling on the couch with my family than work out.
    4) I work full time and I am WIPED OUT when I get home. I am not a night person anymore. I rise early (4:45) and exercise then.
    5) I am happily married. My husband loves me exactly as I am today and wouldn't care if I changed at all. Of course he wants me to be more healthy for my own sake!
    6) I do know how to eat clean. Real food is the answer. My husband and I both know how to cook but are usually too lazy to do it and eat out way more than we should. It's just easier.
    7) I am keeping my program really simple - I don't diet. I simple eat real food. no sugar or processed junk and not too much of it. I exercise 30 minutes a day 5 to 6 days a week.

All: feel free to add me.

Hubby and I are getting into shape sure but slowly. :)
