I've been trying to get a slim stomach for about 6 months now. I started off doing 2 workout videos a day, and i did get results. My stomach got tighter and you can somewhat see an outline of abs. But i have a gut. It erks me so much it makes me feel disgusting. I heard doing a lot of cardio and cutting calories will help shed the fat. But the thing is im skinny already im 5'6 and weigh 113 pounds. I do not want to lose any weight other then my belly fat and i've been trying to bulk, i want to weigh atleast 120. But im scared all the fat will just end up going to my stomach. I've always been skinny and had this gut, please help !! How can i gain weight and lose belly fat at the same time?? Oh and i also work out about 4-5 days a week i run for 10-15 minutes then i mostly do weights, i also do some weighted ab crunches and high sit ups.
Please get back thanks! :flowerforyou:

Lift heavy things up in the air and set them back on the ground. Repeat. Eat more protein to fuel your muscles.0

My trainer always said to stretchen your stomach you need a strong back...maybe you need to do some more support work on your back?0

Perfect advice. Women also need more fat than you think we do.0 -
focus on your diet! "abs are made in the kitchen"
You don't need to cut calories necessarily but you should do some research on a diet plan that fits you. Some people do clean eating, flex dieting/count their macros etc.. Whatever works for you, but leaning out is mostly about a good meal plan. I hate using the word "diet" because its not really a diet, just changing the way you're eating.0 -
I think it is very difficult to do what you are asking. I have a similar situation, I want to build upper body mass, but I want to get rid of 10-12 pounds of belly fat as well.
After reading all of the advice on how I could do both at the same time, I decided it was best just to concentrate on burning off the belly fat, then when it is gone, I would increase my caloric intake and protein intake and start working on the muscle mass.
That is the strategy I have decided works for me anyway.0 -
Eat more protein. I eat about 150 g per day.0

I'm glad it works for you, but it's not healthy advice for someone who is already underweight.
^ This.
I was in the same boat at you OP, even at a lower weight (same height). Focus on eating at maintenance (or a surplus, as you stated you want to gain weight) and some form of resistance training. Weight lifting is most efficient. These can help reduce any lingering body fat in your stomach without making you lose weight.
Also, without seeing pictures, DO you have a "gut"? Posture and intolerance/allergies can lead to a "pooch" even on someone at a lower weight.0
