Exercises while dealing with a broken leg

I broke (well, shattered) my Tibial Plateau the Sunday before Thanksgiving. I got some wonderful internal bling (a plate and seven screws) for my troubles, as well as being off work until at least the end of June.

Has anyone had to deal with a broken leg and still maintain weight loss goals? Anything involving using the legs is out for a while. Are there any good fat burning exercises that I can do until I get back on my feet?

not leg but fractured my hip - a lot of seated rows - a lot of high rep low weight shoulder presses - resistance band chest presses etc hand bike machine

I did strength train the good leg as best I could - there is some debate that if you work out one half of your body it will trigger the other to try and keep up - I forget he exact term for it

Watch you food intake as you are especially immobile

if it was me I'd be doing one-legged deadlifts and squats, and the upper body stuff would include seated OHPs and I'm not sure if it's possible to do pendlay rows with only one functioning leg but it would be interesting to find out.

but it's probably best to check with a doc or physio what exercises you can do safely and what it's a good idea to do to maintain leg strength while your leg's healing up

Don't do single legged anything, you will end up with a strength imbalance between the two sides.
