I've never been a fan of oatmeal...mushy slimy and not so flavorful unless you buy the pre-packaged kind that is full of sugar. My trainer has been bugging me to get some good carbs in after my heavy workout with him So, I thought i'd try to make something that was quick like oatmeal, but way more flavorful and with a better texture....so this is what i came up with and it's very good and very satisfying! Just watch the serving size. The calories can add up pretty quickly if you're not careful. But a little goes a long way to keep you full til lunch

This recipe is in MFP recipe index if you want the calorie count on it

this makes one serving so multiply for however many your feeding.

1/2 c. Country choice, multi grain hot cereal*
1 tbsp. dried cranberries or raisins
1 tbsp. toasted, sliced almonds
2 tsp. sunflower seeds
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. water
1/4 c. non-fat milk
Splenda to taste
Bring water to a boil and add all ingredients except milk and splenda. Cook for five minutes then add milk and as much splenda as you like.
"any whole grain hot cereal will work or old fashioned rolled oats work too...i've just found that this brand has the best texture
