I just don't think I can do this

Hi all,
I have to write my feelings down somewhere and I don't know where else to go.
I am really struggling at the moment.
To give everyone a brief history - I was very very thin when I was younger up to the age of 25 then its gone up and up to the point where I was 19stone. I then lost 3 stone on my own, which I was very happy with.
This was 2 years ago, I am now sitting at 16 st 5 and I hate it.
I joined slimming world and that didn't work out (mainly due to financial implications), I did manage to lose a bit doing calorie counting, but then it plateaued.
Basically, I am at my wits end and I don't know what to do. I am going on holiday in September and I would like to lose 2stone by then.
Any words of wisdom would be great, as I currently feel like crying!

Going to Slimming World does not lose weight. Eating at a calorie deficit does.0

First change your mindset, if you think you can't do this then you're probably right, if you believe you can do this then you can. Don't defeat yourself.
Now if you aren't losing weight you are not in a calorie deficit. Your diary isn't open so can't see your logging. But, use a digital food scale, log everything as accurately as possible and be brutally honest. If you eat too much one day own it, log it move on.
Be consistent and patient it will work0 -
Take a breath and realize that you aren't the only one.
I would suggest some reading

im sorry you are feeling so down about everything, do you log your meals and exercise on here? i find that writing down what i eat and drink as well as my exercise is a great motivator. Also you now have a focus ( your hols) so dont think about the TWO STONES that you want to lose just think about this week and maybe aim for a couple of pounds?
i found that gettting a pedometer helped me greatly. you can download a free app on your phone even, i pushed me to do the extra walking about the office or walk the longer way round the shops etc. just to get my step count up. It all helps in the fight against the weight.
try to stay positive as negativity will just make your job here much harder.. you can do it.!!0 -
Can you open up your food diary?
Your mindset won't help. First step is believing you can do it.0 -
Nobody can help you except YOU.
If you want to lose 2 ST, it can be done but you have to help yourself. Do baby steps so you won't get tired and bored in the end. Maybe start making a list what you can live without - soda for example and chips. chocolates? You don't have to slash it right away but you can decrease intake.
That's my personal experience. In the end you'll see your place is clean with junk food.0 -
Negativity won't help much. Time to pick yourself up dust yourself off and try again--and again if necessary. calorie counting does work, so you're doing something wrong. Go back to scratch, and restart everything. As the others have said--digital scale, log everything. You will have weeks when you don't lose and that is normal. Just keep going. Be patient. It's better than where you are now.0

Thanks everyone.
I have started filling in the diary properly from this morning, and I have just made it public.
I do walk around at work quite a bit (I work at an animal rescue centre) but I don't count that as exercise.
Your right I need to get my head in the right place and focus on the smaller goals, rather than the 2stone.
Thanks again.0 -
You absolutely can do it. Make an effort every day and over time you will see the weight coming off. I didn't think I would ever lose this much when I first started, it just shows if you stick with it, it works. Be patient and keep going, it's so worth it0

Focus on getting your logging accurate. When my weight loss has stalled over the past 14 months, it's because I got lax in my weighing and logging intake, so was eating more than I was entering.
You can do this Good luck to you0 -
If you don't think you can, then you are right. I think, for the most part, we all have to completely change our mindset. For myself, I had to really reach the point where I hated myself. I hated how I looked, I hated my clothes, I hated that I couldn't move the way I wanted to, and I hated the way I perceived everyone saw me. I finally realized I had to do something. I made up my mind. I am an intelligent person. I know HOW to lose weight. I had to decide that I was going to do it. I wasn't going to do it for a month, or for 8 weeks. I was going to do it until it was DONE. I may have minor slip ups on the way, but I wasn't stopping. If I messed up, I was going to get myself right back on track. That was last April 15th. Sure, I have had minor setbacks on the way. I am still plugging away though, and it is working. It won't be miraculous. It won't happen overnight. You just have to tell yourself you KNOW how to do it and then you MAKE yourself do it. Good luck to you.0

Patience is the key. You should not expect to see dramatic changes immediately but if you stick with a regular exercise routine and a controlled diet then you WILL get there!!0

Thank you ladies, first time writing I have managed to lose 12 pounds in six weeks.which is great here's the but, I am tired all the time, I get up at five so i can walk before work, then put in 8.5 hour on my feet, and by the time dinner is done I am ready for bed....
any ideas? I have tried looking for foods that give more energy, but very new at eating right so totally at a loss.
thanks for listening.0 -

You don't mention you stats or how much you have to lose, but the problem could be that you are eating too large a deficit and losing too rapidly. Unless you have a lot to lose (>50 lbs) you should not be trying to lose 2lbs per week. Eat more food. It might slow down your loss but you will have more energy and feel better. It will be more sustainable.0 -
I would say...give yourself some major credit for losing 103 lbs.!!! That is amazing! I'll bet at some point you thought that was not possible. You made it happen!! So..I know you can do it! Go get it!!!0

I wonder if you need vitamins?? I would check with your doctor to see if you're getting enough D and others. Vitamin D deficit knocked my brother and husband right out.0
