Ok so when i buy things like chicken for example the serving size is usually 4oz. Other than having a scale it can sometimes be hard to determine the exact amount. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to determine the amount of chicken per serving size? Or any food that is measured by weight for that matter. Or if anyone has a cool food scale and knows where to get one let me know!

so I just bought a good scale yesterday with some hesitation. I can already tell it was worth it. For example I made chicken tenderloins last night and what I would have estimated as 4oz turned out to be over 7oz so my estimations have been way off. The one I got is not fancy--I bought it at target and it was 24.99 but in sure you can find a bigger selection online. I hit a plateau and I'm hoping this will help! Good luck!0

If in doubt, overestimate (assuming you are trying to lose weight).0

You can buy kitchen scales just about anywhere, I think I bought my big one at Walmart. My spice scale I had to get from a specialty store because regular kitchen scales don't weigh in tenths of a gram and I'm anal about my weights.0 -
Scales aren't that expensive - I got one a Bed Bath and Beyond - I had a 20% off coupon and I think I paid less than $20 for it. It's digital and does ounces or grams. I use it ALL THE TIME to make sure my portions are right.0

I just bought a scale and am so happy I did. I am an over-estimator. I was happy to learn that my 4oz serving was really only 3oz and I can eat a lot more than I thought.0
