When is a rest day really needed?

My body isn't in pain nor exhausted, and I work out 7 days a week. I alternate daily between running (30mins) and circuit training (20-25mins).
I feel great. My energy levels are high and I feel more productive than ever. But, I am also concerned after reading up on "rest days", and how they should be mandatory. I have read lots of conflicting information on this, and I am hoping to gain some clarity on the topic.
When is having zero "rest days" acceptable (if ever)?

Rest days don't mean days of complete inactivity, although they can be. What is meant by taking rest days is giving your muscles time to recover. For instance, if you were trying to do multiple sets of heavy squats 7 days a week, you would likely be better served taking a few rest days (which can include other activities), as these heavy compound movements take a toll on your body and your body needs time to recover in between workouts. On the other hand, if you're just alternating between light cardio sessions and circuit training, you're likely fine going 7 days a week.0
