PH out of whack!

Ok so I get the calorie thing down - have my workouts in check then onto fixing cholesterol blood levels..corrected then it was Macros...Yup have those mostly in check now. So then....after a bit of research I realize my skin is awful possibly due to my PH balance. I get a test and of course...I am all acid lol
I check the acid list of foods and holy moly look at that!! Coffee, equal, smoking, the grains I eat, peanut butter and most meats consumed are ALL acidic!!!!
I eat plenty of fruit & veggies, at least i thought I ate enough. However they say it takes 20 parts alkaline to fix 1 part acidic! My hopes of fixing this PH thing do not look realistic!
When the hell did I become so addicted to numbers associated with food?!?!?!
Anywho~ anyone out there go through this and fix it without necessarily removing their favorite items (coffee!! PB!!)? Smoking...ugh someday that will be ex smoker however right now...it is a slow process.
Any ideas to help fix this? I have one idea to incorporate more alkaline which is put spinach in a vanilla protein shake for breakfast & use it with my lettuce in salads but that is not going to be enough. (BTW before someone mentions it...I will not go ALL plant based diet...that is just not a feasible lifestyle for me)
Any ideas / insight would be appreciated

The human body does a very good job of regulating the pH of various systems and organs (blood, urine, skin, stomach, etc.). It's not really something you should worry about. Eat healthy foods (including lots of "alkaline" vegetables) and you'll be fine.

P.S. If you want to increase the alkalinity of your blood, there's a super easy way to do it - hyperventilate. ;-)0 -
Try adding some Apple Cider Vinegar to you water each day.

" Alkaline Acid Balance
Some alternative practitioners recommend using apple cider vinegar to restore alkaline acid balance. The theory behind the alkaline diet is that our blood is slightly alkaline (with a normal pH level of between 7.35 and 7.45) and that our diet should reflect this pH level. Proponents of the alkaline-acid theory believe that a diet high in acid-producing foods leads to lack of energy, excessive mucous production, infections, anxiety, irritability, headache, sore throat, nasal and sinus congestion, allergic reactions, and increased risk of conditions such as arthritis and gout.
Despite being an acidic solution, some proponents of apple cider vinegar believe it has an alkalinizing effect on the body. As such, they recommend one to two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar in water as a daily health tonic. Although this is a popular remedy, its effectiveness hasn't been researched."0 -
If your pH was out of whack, you would be dead. The human body does not tolerate changes in blood pH well.
Someone is just trying to sell you something.0 -
What "research" did you do to determine that you were "acidic"? And what was your pH?0

I stumbled on the whole acidic thing when i was looking for ways to correct my skin issues which I have actually been doing for some time..just not as thoroughly as lately. I of course then googled it - sadly did not come across anything in the first several pages debunking it or anything.
According to the test strips (both urine tested & saliva) I am about 5.5
I hate science - one says this another say that...one day your told apples are the best food choice..the next it will cause cancer UGH!!!0 -

Seriously, if your body was actually 5.5, you would be dead. So dead. way dead. This isn't 'science' doing two things, this is medical science saying you cannot easily change your blood pH, vs. a bunch of woo trying to take your money.
Urine can change, as that is what is expelled. Eating all the lemons in the world won't change your actual internal pH one bit.
"First, a little chemistry: A pH level measures how acid or alkaline something is. A pH of 0 is totally acidic, while a pH of 14 is completely alkaline. A pH of 7 is neutral. Those levels vary throughout your body. Your blood is slightly alkaline, with a pH between 7.35 and 7.45. Your stomach is very acidic, with a pH of 3.5 or below, so it can break down food. And your urine changes, depending on what you eat – that's how your body keeps the level in your blood steady.
The alkaline diet claims to help your body maintain its blood pH level. In fact, nothing you eat is going to substantially change the pH of your blood. Your body works to keep that level constant."0 -

^^This. We actually discussed this in one of my chemistry classes last year. If your pH gets off in your body, you're dead. Quite quickly actually.0 -

It's important to distinguish between science and quackery. Science makes specific, verifiable, and testable claims. Quackery makes vague, inconsistent, and general claims. A scientist would never say that apples are the "best food," or that your "body" pH is unbalanced. These are vague and meaningless statements that you can and should reject outright. I am not a scientist myself so I don't understand the details of a lot of biological processes, but I know enough to be highly skeptical of vague and general claims about health. It's tempting to get sucked into health articles on the internet, but most of it is nonsense.
What I do know about pH is that scientists understand blood pH of the human body very well. There is little mystery about it. Your body regulates the pH of your blood within a very tight range. There is nothing you can do to change this. You can hold your breath (blood becomes more acidic) or hyperventilate (blood becomes more alkaline) for only a short time before you lose consciousness and start to breathe normally again. If your blood is outside the narrow healthy pH window you are either critically ill or dead.0 -
I've heard that grapefruit and tomatoes are good for your skin. Of course, this is just something I've *heard* - so take that with a grain of salt. I probably read that in Cosmo or Shape or something.
Some other possible explanations could be a hormonal imbalance, stress, anxiety... At the end of the day, if it's something that really bothers you, I think it'd be worth talking to your doctor or dermatologist about, rather than consulting the almighty interwebz. =]0 -
Add some lemon juice to your water. Small step but it should help.0

Your pH is not out of whack. This is one of those 'pretend' conditions. Your body regulates your pH all by itself through respiration. What you eat has nothing to do with it.0

That is not science's fault, but rather the fault of the media. They take one line of a study completely out of context, and blow it up to sensationalize it. How else are they going to get people to buy papers or click on their web links??0 -

I have seen a derm - they push useless pills & creams that have done nothing for the issue The issues I have are common for those that spent a lot of time in the sun and had multiple pregnancies hence why I have been searching online. I figured some woman out there has found something that worked for them. The concept of fixing your skin from within is not a new theory - i remember hearing about it years ago. However I thought nothing of it until I needed to lol
To be honest - the web - magazine or a doctor...doesn't matter much...I do not know what or who to believe anymore!!! There are theories / studies etc from doctors that prove one thing and the next day another Dr proves them wrong. I guess it is trial thing for everything - try it and see if it works for you.
And for whom ever mentioned lemons...Through water & Tea I pretty much consume the juice of a whole fresh lemon daily...:/
Also: I understand I can not regulate the PH of the blood running through me nor would I - I did not have the PH of my blood tested.0 -
I don't like to say it.... but the best thing you can do for your skin is stop smoking....0
