Pissed about my plateau

I have been excersizing and eating very well, at or under my calorie goal for food and working out 3 times a week, but I have been stuck at the same weight for the last 2 months. I have already lost 43 lbs. but I'm only half way to my goal. Any advice? I'm only eating 1200 cal/day and in my work out I burn around 1400 cals. I'm sick of being stuck! HELP!!

    open your diary

only eating 1200 calories a day is ridiculous if you are working out (is that a net or all you consume)
the burning 1400 calories sounds suspicous to me, how are you measuring your burns?
    Do you weigh your food?

Open your diary. Chances are you overestimating your burns, underestimating what you eat. Or it is time to see your dr.

You're underestimating your food &/or overestimating your burns. Log everything you eat & drink accurately & honestly. Weigh your food. Try eating back half your exercise calories.

Yeah, you'll need to open your diary and describe your workouts for anyone to give you meaningful advice.

How long since you lost weight?

usually we are eating more than we think hence the plateau :/

also that burn seems very high unless you're working out for several hours each day.

1200 is usually never enough as most peoples BMR is more than that.

Any time I plateaued and yes I've seen some go on for 8 weeks or more I was eating a bit more, not measuring as accurately therefore eating more than I thought I was.

Time to get measuring and weighing your food and entering every morsel of food into your diary - its the only way.

And only eat back some exercise cals.

I guess the main thing is that eating at or below target isn't necessarily the same thing as eating well. If your body isn't getting what it needs you're unlikely to lose weight.

I've noticed that I go through cycles or being very fastidious measuring and weighing food, end up eating more becuase when i measure carefully I find that i'm below target, and lose weight. Then I get a bit lazier, and guess a bit more, toend to eat less and eat less well, and stop loosing as regularly.

Try to keep and eye on your BMR, and on your net calories.
If i'm low, I tend to top up with fruit and veg (usually raw tomatoes, sugar-snap peas or apples, mango) anything really.

Try and be really rigorous about recording EVERYTHING for a week (I know it's really hard) but it will help you see what's happening, especially if you look at the pie charts. Last time I had a slump and looked and the pie charts i found that though i was at or under calories, I was high on carbs and low on protein and fat (relatively), rebalancing this meant sometimes going over target, but I started losing again.

    Good luck
