How do I use BMR and TDEE correctly to lose weight?

I have found out that my BMR is 1975 and my TDEE is 2370. It says to subtract 15 - 20% to find out the amount of calories to eat to lose weight. I think that would put me around 1896 - 2251.5 calories a day which seems way too many to me. I'm current goal is 1500 calories a day but I've been losing weight really slowly (8 lbs in 2 months) and am trying to figure out how to lose about 2 lbs a week without lowering my calories even lower. I'm waliking anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes a day. In the past, I have gone under a 1000 calories a day and dropped weight quickly and I'm trying to avoid that this time. I'm eating a low fat, low sodium diet..
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
