Exercise and travel

Hi
I am on a career break and travelling - which is great but it is playing havoc with my exercise routine. We are currently in Dubai for 8 weeks so enjoying using the gym and power walking - my fitness levels are really increasing. During the summer 2014 we will spend some time in Italy - the accommodation is on a hill and no gym in the town. So hill walking up/down and and I plan to take some kit with me in the car - kettlebells (love the current blog) dumb bells and resistance band. We also have summer 6 weeks booked in Sicily during July and August and that will be tricky - it will be roasting hot. What would others who exercise in hot climates advise - early morning power walk? what time is early morning? I like getting up early and with my exercise session over by 11 am latest but happy to do a short power walk late in the evening but as we are staying in town the streets may be too busy to build up much speed.
