Calorie obsession

I've been a part of MFP for quite a while. I've had great successes with my weight loss just by monitoring my calories (albeit slow!) As long as I don't tell myself I'm on a diet, I can play my calorie game- I put in a higher calorie count and try to come in under it. The bigger the gap, the more I win. I don't beat myself up if I get close though.
However, I've been noticing I'm getting obsessive about my food. I went on a trip out of town and had no control over what I ate. For the most part I allowed myself to have fun. Now that I am home, I am trying toget back on track, I start out strong, but by midday I will start eating anything I can get my hands on. Or I'll make it to the evening and then ruin it with an order of fries or something bad.
I'm annoying my friends and family with my incessant obsession with calories and how upset I get when I over eat. How do I curb these actions/emotions? I really want to get back on track.
I'm glad I found a place that I can vent my frustations to. Hopefully this will relieve my poor family from my neurosis!
Thanks for the help!

I was exactly the same way!!! I had to go low carb to limit food choices and control the hunger at first...........I'm been eating much looser the past month and I have found that I am in control and still losing. Sometimes having choices is a bad thing when you are first trying to control hunger and adjust to a new way of eating. I would prepare all your meals and bring them with you at first to eliminate the chance that you want to stray or find yourself with no choice but to eat whatever food is presented to you. Good luck, I feel your pain!!!!!!!

Thanks! My other problem is living with my parents still. I usually do the grocery shopping which helps a lot. But my mom especially will bring things like cookies into the house, and she won't buy just one kind. It's like 2 or 3! I see why I struggle with weight. Sometimes I can curb my craving, if I have better alternatives. I can allow myself to eat just one sometimes.

It's definitely hard living with others who are not eating the same foods. Can you designate a cupboard just for yourself? I keep my foods separate so I don't have to see the temptations in the other cupboards.

I think you should get help from a medical professional. No one should have to live so exhausted in their mind!
