Juice Cleanse - A Quick Solution to Weight Loss? Or a Fad?

Before I get angry people posting down below let me be clear. I'm not for or against a juice cleanse. But of you were ever considering participating in one this might be a good thing to read.

So I'm a Television Broadcasting student and a couple of weeks ago we were tasked with an assignment to shoot a six to eight minute documentary on a subject of your choice. I've always been interested in the human body and it's limits and was curious to see how a juice cleanse would affect me. I also was feeling pressure to the diet I was currently on as eating with restrictions for 60 days does take it's toll. The idea is if I can live off extreme restrictions, the restrictions I was living on before won't be so hard. Upon proposing this idea my program coordinator said a similar thing had been done. The documentary in question is Sick, Fat, and Dying.

Unlike the documentary previously mentioned I will only be doing this for one week. We have seeked out a professional who's willing to talk to us about the pros and cons of such a cleanse. We are also tracking weight loss via weight and measurements and we are testing energy levels before and after the cleanse. We are also going to see how much weight I can keep off after the cleanse is over.

I am currently on day 5, the end of day 3 and all of day 4 were rough on me. I had no energy. Sitting up straight made me want to pass out. The drinks are mostly disgusting, you get strong cravings for solid foods. You essentially feel hungry all the time. A lot of it is mind over matter. You feel light headed and get the occasional headache. I also lost 10 lbs in 4 days, something I think is extremely unhealthy.

If you are interested in knowing more about the cleanse, shoot me off a friend request. I will be posting the documentary short after April 1st.

    Fad.
Your body cleanses itself which is why we poop and pee. These crap approaches (pun intended) to weight loss does nothing to teach long term behaviors.

Fruit cleanse - another quick fix scam for getting healthy.

Steve Jobs knows your pain. He was on an all fruit diet and likely got pancreatic cancer because of it. Ashton Kutcher, in preparing for the role of playing Steve Jobs, ate an all fruit diet. Kutcher got weak and showed early signs of pancreatic cancer. He got off the all fruit diet.

Why do people keep calling Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead a documentary?

Absolutely nothing, I didn't pass any bowel movements during the cleanse.
You lost 10 pounds and didn't detox anything? There are 4 main ways of detoxification, only one of them is defecation.

Why do people keep calling Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead a documentary?
Because it is, my teacher does documentaries for a living, he told me about it.

So now documentary is a synonym for commercial.

You've been in the fitness industry for 30 years, and have studied nutrition and you don't know the four main pathways of detoxification in the human body?

    Urination
    Defecation
    Exhalation
    Perspiration

    Or

    Pissin', ****tin', breathing, and sweating.
