What's up with food packaging that says "based on a 2000 calorie a day diet"? Does that mean it's different for other calorie intakes ? Where do they get 2000?

This means that all of the "% of daily nutritional requirement" labels are scaled to a % of 2000 total kcal. If you eat more or less than you are eating a smaller or larger % of your daily requirement respectively.0
