Foot Going Numb

I recently started going back to the gym during my lunch break at work and walking on an incline. All was going well and then one day about two weeks ago, my right foot went numb. I powered through it, but it took like 20 minutes to get back to normal after I finished walking. Thinking it was my shoes, I went to the store and got some much nicer shoes to walk in. Had the same problem and realized my shoes were probably way too tight. So I went back to the store and exchanged the shoes for a pair two sizes bigger in a different brand. Today was the first day using the shoes and my right foot went numb again...

I make sure not to lace up too tightly and when my foot starts going numb, I untie my shoes and loosen my laces as much as they'll go. That helps a little, but doesn't alleviate the numbness completely. I don't think it's my shoes at this point.

I ran cross-country for years and never had this problem...I also more recently have walked really regularly, both on a treadmill and outside, and only just started having this problem. The only thing I can think of is that my right calf muscle gets very tight and hurts when I walk now....I'm wondering if the muscle is pinching a nerve or a vein. I don't know how likely that is or how to prevent it if that is the case.

Any advice?
