does anyone know or does it depend on certain things x
  • It depends on certain things such as your age and resting heart rate. There are heart rate zones which you should target depending on what goal you are trying to achieve. There are a bunch of calculators available online to help you calculate your max heart rate. The most basic of calculators says take 220 and subtract your age to get the max heart rate. There are others that factor in your resting heart rate and others which give a fitness test.

Typically you want to maintain once you figure out your max heart rate:

60-70% of max hr for weight loss and for building endurance, often called zone 2 fat burn zone
70-80% of max hr for weight management, improving cardio fitness, often called zone 3 aerobic zone
80%+ for interval workouts (80-90% is often called zone 4) anerobic zone
above 90% is considered zone 5. max VOX zone
