So the boyfriend and I will be in the car a total of 10 hours sat. We have a going away party to go to about 5 hours away. We are road trip eaters!!!!! I need healthy snack ideas that will not only keep in the car but also be easy to eat in the car. Maybe a drink recipe or 2 too! Also he is an energy drink junkie. He has cut down a lot but hasn't cut it out completely. The drive back will be late at night and he is going to need something to keep him a wake ( he hates coffee) but I don't want him to drink a whole bunch of monster. Any one have any good energy drink alternatives? Im sure he will still have at least one but I would like him to try and limit it to just one.

I personally like a product called Lights On. It's natural. You don't have the crash like you do with energy drinks. It comes in packets which are super convenient.

    Baby carrots or carrot sticks
    celery
    brocolli
    cauliflower
    grapes
oranges - already peeled and seperated
    pretzels
Granola or Special K bars - you can also make homemade granola bars or baked oatmeal bars - tons of recipes on the internet.
Muffins - again, tons of healthy recipes on the internet - Most quick bread recipes can be baked in muffin tins (mini or regular size) instead of loaf pans. I like skinny taste's low fat banana bread recipe made in muffin tins instead of loaf pans.

I use snack ziploc bags to portion out serving amounts, this helps me not mindlessly eat without taking the amount into consideration.

If you have a small cooler, you could pack individual yogurts, fruit cups or mozzarella string cheese.

Beef jerky! The real stuff, though, not like SlimJims - real beef jerky is low in fat and calories and has tons of protein.
