To answer your question:
type in [ img ] then paste your gif, then follow with [ /img ] (no spaces)!
Like this:
[ img ] http://www.writersbloq.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/tumblr_mebwwzWnE51qlxyddo1_400.gif [/img ]
(I put in spaces after img on purpose so it wouldn't post the gif and you could see how it's done!)
