Please evaluate my squats:

I have done the research. I am trying to stick my butt out and keep my chest up like I should. I've looked at multiple sites and YouTube videos but it is still hard to evaluate myself.
Please let me know if I am doing this correctly?. Am I going low enough, too fast or slow, form?? Any help is greatly appreciated.
*side note: I started from scratch because my form was really bad before*

Butt out , chest up looks good, I don't notice any "butt wink" from that angle. Hips are going back and down before the knees so that's good and keeping in line from the angle I see. Knees are always out. Everything seems nice and tight.
You do need to go lower, from the angle, I don't think you're even at parallel, so that's something to work on. Maybe some hip mobility work. Box squats can help a lot with dept. Also, getting yourself down in "the hole" and doing pause reps, with just the bar. You can also try a low bar squat and see if you find it easier for dept, from what I can tell, you're doing high bar?
Shoes can also cause an issue, are they flat? Anything with a compression can hinder your squats. I squat barefoot, if that's an option.0 -
to me it looks like your leaning forward a bit more than ya should.... are you driving thru the heels? I'd bet your driving a lot thru the ball of your foot... perhaps its cuz your wearing NB shoes and the heel is probably squishy as **** and it feels wrong
the depth is pretty damn close to parallel if not there..
back looks good
elbows flared back here and there. keeping em more forward may help keep your shoulders higher
all in all it looks pretty good... dump those shoes...
How long u been squatting?0 -
I agree you need to get lower...I use a box to ensure I do...
And yes get rid of the shoes...I too lift barefoot esp squats which helps ensure I am pushing through my heels...0 -
Thanks for the help. I'll try barefoot next time. It's so damn cold in that gym sometimes. lol
ETA: I am trying to stay on my heels as much as possible, but sometimes I loose balance and lean forward. Maybe it is shoe related.0 -
I'll research box squats too. i don't think I know about that one. I think I'm doing sumo.0
