Caffeine-bad or good for weight loss?

So, I love my coffee. I've had friends say that its good for weight loss, and friends that say it's bad, and I should stay away from it. Anyone on here know how it impacts the metabolism and cravings?

(and, I found both sides online. For those of you that will reply "google it, dummy" lol)

all you need for weight loss is a calorie deficit

caffeine has nothing to do with it….unless the amount of sugar you put in your coffee makes you not be in a deficit...

Enjoy your coffee. Don't add too many calories to it and get on with a calorie deficit plus exercise. Drinking coffee is not related to weight loss.

I know it doesn't have any calories in it. I'm more asking how it impacts appetite.

For example, I'd say a 100 calorie apple is better for weight loss than 100 calories of juice, because the apple has fiber in it, which can suppress the appetite for longer since it's higher on the glycemic index (I think)

I can tell that coffee wakes me up, speeds up my heart, ect. so was just wondering if those physiological changes impact appetite.

great for fat loss. if you're working out, don't drink it within 4 hours after working out as it hinders muscle repair

I've studied a lot of things about caffeine, have never read anything about this. Do you have sources?

if there is a boost it is so minimal that it would not make a difference..

if you have a peer reviewed study on this, I would love to take a look...

I am a caffeine addict. I drink a Monster drink and 3-4 cups of tea each morning. Hasn't hindered my weight loss.

There is a bit of a metabolism boost in caffeine. It's the reason most diet pills that actually work are at all effective, as they are essentially caffeine pills. It's not much, though, and it certainly doesn't make for a dramatic difference.

Caffeine can be great for weight loss. It can boost metabolism and give you a burst of energy. BUT! You have to watch the calories that can come with coffee drinks. Cream and sugar add so many calories, caramel, mocha, other add-ins. So have your coffee, but get skim milk and calorie free sweetener. Also, drink water with the coffee, coffee tends to dehydrate you and dehydration can be confused for hunger, and make you tired. I did some research, I still love my coffee. Hope that helped!

You'll have to stay up on the latest studies. Myth busting of the dehydration theory.....
