OK, I'm needing to lose over 100 lbs.
Obviously I need to exercise, and burn the fat. But I was wondering is it worth while doing any weights at this size, or is that for when I lose quite a bit first, to then sculpt it to be as it should?
I don't really have a clue, and would love advice on this
Thank you x

Hi
I think you should do some light weights, so that you ache slightly 1-2 days after exercising. This is because when you loose weight you can loose a lot of muscle mass and the weight training will avoid this. It will also improve your BMR so you will use more calories in your daily life and stand you in good stead as you get fitter and want to get more involved in cardio. But, start gently and find something that you enjoy and get good advice on technique. I get my strength training from body pump at the gym and free weigths at home.

weight training at any time is good - if you have a lot to lose you may not notice for a bit but the muscles will form regardless - I don't see why waiting would benefit - weight training will also help with your cardio workouts as well0

This! The strength training will help you retain muscle as you lose weight, so you'll look better as you get smaller.0 -
Definitely both! Best wishes for success!0

Eat right
Sleep right
Drink lots of water.

Definitely worthwhile! Cardio exercises like jogging or brisk walking may seem like they're the best you can do for weight loss, and weights are just what people do to build muscle and look buff - but building muscle is actually awesome for losing weight. The more muscle mass and tone you have, the more energy you are burning even when you're not exercising. Apparently interval cardio (run briefly then walk to recover a bit, then repeat, or something like that) has been found to increase your metabolism even after the exercise is stopped where a long continuous cardio session won't, so if you're looking to do cardio you can check that out. It's deceptively hard, despite the "rest" periods making it sound easy! I use the C25K app on my phone.
My favourite exercise is swimming though. I can spend hours in the pool, and it works on practically all your muscle groups. And it's zero impact, which I love
I know you only asked about weights, but I like to talk lol.
Good luck!!!0 -
This awesome thanks for the information - I love swimming i think i will incorporated that in my excersise as well.0
