Losing weight without exercise

I have a question, if you sat in bed for 24 hours and ate 1500 calories and didn't move and your BMR burns 2000 calories would you lose weight? I obviously don't do this but I was just curious.. It seems to good to be true lol

Totally an extreme example, but have you ever watched that show on TLC, my 600-lb life? Most of the people on that show have to lose a certain amount prior to surgery and many of them can no longer walk. They literally reduce their calories and do nothing more than lay in bed and they will lose like 20lbs in a month.0
