How to log certain exercises?

I'm new on here and just starting to get the hang of things. I was searching for a few exercises to log and wasn't finding them. Can someone help me? I walk after work while I do anything (i.e. housework) with my ankle weights and a pedometer, I couldn't find how to log that since it's not "just" walking. The added weight should count right? Also, does anyone work out with resistance bands? How do you log those? By individual exercise? Any advice is appreciated thanks!

I would just log it as walking. The weight won't get you too many more calories. Maybe 20-50 extra calories. Log resistance bands as weight lifting.

Definitely invest in a heart rate monitor with a chest strap. There are many options under $100- you dont have to go for the really expensive brands but definitely do some research, read reviews, etc. That way you have a more accurate count of what you're burning since the exercise calories on the MFP database are wayyyyy too high.

ETA: then when you're doing your workouts or housework or whatever you can create your own exercise and log your calories burned accurately

MFP is pretty accurate for walking and running (nothing will be exact, but MFP is pretty good for those exercises until you're pretty close to a healthy weight - then they start being overestimated (at least that's how it worked for me compared to my HRM)). I wouldn't add anything extra for wearing ankle weights. IMO, they're not heavy enough to make much of a difference.

For resistance bands, I would look at using something like calisthenics, light and probably reduce the amount to 70% or so, depending on your perceived effort. I use that exercise for a class I take that uses light weights, balls, bands, and body weight exercises.
