It is a sign of a dull nature to occupy oneself deeply in matters that concern the body; for instance, to be over much occupied about exercise, about eating and drinking, about easing oneself, about sexual intercourse. - Epictetus

Accomplishing goals is wonderful, makes you feel great. But day in and out only focusing on diet and exercise gets dull. Doesn't anyone ever need a mental break from constantly worrying about "the outside". My inside needs a little nourishment on occasian also. I'm not belittling anyone, just asking if anyone else feels like t seems the deeper parts of your mind get used less and less. And if anyone has solutions to relieving said whoas.

It's all about balance. Yes, a major goal in my life right now is losing weight and getting fit, but that's not ALL my life is about. I work, I spend time with family and friends, I read, I research things I'm interested in, I try to meditate and do activities that nourish me spiritually... I agree life would be dull if all I focused on was food/eating/exercising. It sounds like you need to find other hobbies/activities/goals?
  • I hear you! That's why dieting and exercise have failed for me in the past-- I focus too much on it and not enough on the other aspects in my life. This time around, I'm trying to keep a healthy balance; At the beginning of my day, I decide what I'll be eating and what I'll do to work out, then I do it and focus on other things -- like my homework, my family, and even games or fun stuff. I've found when I only concern myself with those things that can become mundane for just a short period of time during my day, then I don't really give them a chance to get dull :)
--- Dunno if this is how it is for everyone, but this seems to work for me! Hope it helps :)

Yes, I am getting too much into calories, specially if I don't have the time to exercise. It is amazing how values add up and we end up having more calories that we think.
When I am in my own environment , and exercise is part of my everyday routine, I feel more relax about food. I hope that when I achieve my goal I can be less narrow minded about food and be more balance.
